5 Acres of Solitude

Now I’m on the first step. Now I’m on the second step…………….growled my mother. She was coming to get me!!! To get me out of bed in the morning. I wonder if I thought she was funny. In later years she called me on my phone next to my bed. Which may or may not have awakened me. I could answer the phone and converse in my sleep.

OKay I am getting dangerously close to taking this blogging thing more seriously. Now I’m on the first step………..

What do I really, really, really want to write now? Right now?

I want to write 50 pages of some great story I can’t wait to tell. I want to write an epic poem that frees me from all limitations. I want to write a Broadway play that runs longer than The Fantastics. I want to write the synopsis of the book that gets me paid $$$$$$$ to travel the world and do whatever I feel like doing.

I really want to write my 3 pages of free spirited journaling, but that’s not gonna happen either. I’m packing the car for a weekend trip to Dallas and I’m running late………..

Okay…………I get it…….a writer writes. If I can’t/don’t write then I don’t get to call myself a writer. Right?

I keep hearing my mom ask, “What are you waiting for? The Spirit to move you?” When I was a youngster, those words would usually get me up and doing whatever she was telling me to do. Now my answer seems to be “Yes, I am waiting for the Spirit to move me”. Twice in my life I have been inspired to write my story…….the Cousin’s gettogether at Petit Jean Park, and Lynne’s Political Adventure. Both were huge learning experiences and I couldn’t rest until I wrote the stories. I wonder which story I want to write now???

In my attempt to do stuff to write about in my new blog, I have actually gotten off my butt the last 2 days. Sunday I walked to the highway, picking up trash along the way. It’s about a mile walk, similar to the walk to the highway at Lake Conroe. But less trash here. And fewer cars. I started out with one plastic bag and filled and disposed of 5 more on the way. Picked up more plasctic bags and dropped them in trash cans along the road. I’m assuming my neighbors don’t mind if I throw a bag of road trash in their cans occasionally. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll become a character in my old age. Or maybe I am already a character. Walking down the road, bandage on my nose, hat, pointy stick, plastic bags.

And then yesterday I went to a yoga class after work. Yeah me. Hatha yoga. I gotta find out what the different breaths are. More of a workout than this body has ever had. Muscles contorted in places I didn’t know could move. Anyway I’ll go back on Thursday for the Restorative Yoga class. Connecting with the body has got to be a good thing. I wonder if Martha Stewart thinks so.

Mission Control……….I’m here. How cool. Thanks to my friend Dawn who got me this far in this blogging experience. Now what I need to do is do stuff that will be cool to write about. How many hours I sat on my butt yesterday probably doesn’t make good press. I did take mySelf to Bastrop Lake Park yesterday on my way to HEB. Never been to the Lake before. Nice place. Cute little cabins. The main thing I learned yesterday is that Saturday nite is a good time to go to HEB.

I wonder how I will entertain mySelf today……
